Planetary Imaging Group (PIG)

Welcome to the Planetary Imaging Group

The Planetary Imaging Group (PIG), led by Prof. Nicolas Thomas, is part of the Space Research and Planetary Sciences Division of the Physikalisches Intitut at the University of Bern. Our team focuses on the interaction of light with the surfaces of solar system bodies and particularly on the physics of dynamic phenomena involving ices and volatiles species.

We are located on the second floor of Gesellschaftsstrasse 6 (G6), 3012 Bern.

Funding

Our group is funded through the Kanton of Bern, the Swiss National Science Foundation, the Center for Space and Habitability and the Swiss Space Office via the PRODEX mechanism of the European Space Agency (ESA).
